Flowers make me feel happy, I’ve always loved the feeling I get when I paint blooms outside in the garden or in my studio. Over the years, much of my bespoke work for clients has been of flowers. I use Japanese brushes in gestural painting, influenced by the Sumi e method of painting which is practiced in Japan, where I was taught and I consider the negative space an important part of my composition.
